Football and Lipstick

So we WON'T be performing at a football game this year. We only had Sept. 16 (or 19th, whatever that Friday was) and it's too soon for us to get out there. Bummer I know. We were promised more basketball games so we'll hope for that!! And for all of you who are going to buy the lipstick, it is the Cover Girl, Continuous Lipcolor (a blue case) in Rose Cashmere #565.

Summer Dance Camp

Summer Dance Camp- June 15-19 at the Prosser Family Fitness Zone
Ages 3-4 ($40) and 5-6 ($45) Classes-
Fairytale Ballet- Let your little girl experience ballet princess style! We'll be introducing simple ballet concepts that will become a foundation for the rest of their dance experience.
Tappin' Toes- Although we won't have tap shoes to hear the noise that our feet are making, the girls will experience the fun of making your feet move!
Jazz- Turn up the music and let's dance! We'll work on basics such as walks, jumps and leaps, introducing turns and pirouettes, and finish up with a simple dance routine.
Strut Your Stuff- One of the most important characteristics to have in dance is self confidence. In this class, we'll focus on bringing out a different side to make our performances shine!

Ages 7-9 ($50), 10-11($55), and 12 +($60) Classes-
Turns- We'll have the girls performing one of the most basic dance steps by the time class is over. With the more advanced classes, we'll work on doubles and more difficult turns.
Hip-Hop- This class will focus on being loose, having fun, and dancing with the beat! We'll work on a simple routine at the last half of class.
Lyrical- We'll focus on being more soft and expressing our emotions in this lyrical class. We'll also practice a routine the last half.
Character- In this class, we'll bring out the attitude! We'll do more improv for the girls to feel more comfortable expressing themselves while they dance.
Progressions- We'll bring together what we've been working on all week to have a fun, yet challenging class of walks, turns, jumps, and "tricks!"

Registration ends June 8. Class size must have at least 4 girls enrolled in order for it to be scheduled. On that same note, if classes are too big, I will split the classes so the girls can have maximum attention and fun.
Please have your child dressed in dance attire (preferably) such as hot pants and leotard/tank top. However, anything that they can move in comfortably works. No gum, hair pulled back please, and remember to bring a water bottle!

Makeup

My little diva :)

This makeup isn't perfect because 1)I am not a makeup artist...I barely know how to put it on myself!! 2)Ash had a few cries after I put the makeup on for various reasons, so it was running, put on again......but you get an idea. Yes, I know, you wouldn't put your 3 year old in makeup like this usually-but it's a performance!! I want them to stand out. I have lipstick for every girl (don't worry, it won't touch any girls lips...lipstick brush thingies!) but I want mascara, eyeliner, blush and eyeshadow. I will bring my makeup to check out all of the girls!! :) If any questions, call and we'll see you TOMORROW!!! Yeah..they are so great!

Costumes

Okay, with the costumes, the dances are looking even better! The girls are doing so great. The shirts are going to be a little big, so we're going to tie and twist them. To rule out any cofusion as to which side, let's just do to the back. Get one of those hair ties that are small, rubber and tie the shirt and twist it. The game starts at 4:30, so by the LATEST get there at 4:40 :). Please don't wear the costume visible so it's a "surprise" :) Remember, earrings AND makeup. FYI, parents still have to pay full price to watch..bummer, I know. At least we're only doing one basketball game right? :) I tried to get a girl's home district game, but the Prosser cheerleaders and a fundraiser already called it, so it looks like that's all the b-ball games we'll get..this year!

B-Ball Game

Okay, I am seriously SOOO proud of these girls. They are looking AMAZING!! I'm so excited for the performance and secretly wish that we had more of an opportunity to perform in the next few months!! :) I just wanted to address a few things-
First of all-I have all of the costumes except for the little girls shorts, which I will check on tomorrow and the shirts (they're ready, but in Hermiston waiting to be picked up :) I'll bring those all next week.
2nd-That Monday for practice I do want the girls in their costumes with their hair done, so we can figure out any issues before the performance. For hair, I'll post a picture (I'm borrowing Meg Hartley to be my model :) I want it parted on the left side about two inches and slicked (I know, not the most flattering hair-do, but one of the sharpest looking) back into a low, straight pony tail. I know that there is short hair, layers, and curls-in that case, bobby pins will be your best friend. For example, Ashlynn's hair won't be able to go into a pony tail at all, so we'll just bobby pin it down as much as possible without looking totally freaky.
3rd-Earrings. I'm sure about 95% of the girls don't have their ears pierced..but I still want earrings. For those who have pierced ears, just a simple, rhinestone post. For those who don't, you need 2 rhinestones and eyelash glue (get a pair of fake eyelashes and it should come with.) You may want to pair up so not everyone has to buy the glue. A little goes a long way. Anyway, just glue the rhinestone on the ear and it stays put until you pull it off. I don't want huge rhinestones... just small and simple :)
That's all that I can think of for now...more next week! And again, I am so so proud of how hard the girls are working and their smiles! It makes teaching fun :)

UPDATED CALENDAR-
This week and next week-girls come BOTH days at times mentioned before.
They will practice Monday, February 16th at noon at the gym.
February 17th is their performance and then they won't have classes for the rest of the week. Classes will resume the next Tuesday.
They will have Spring Break off of dance.
May 23 at 2:00 at Prosser High School auditorium, they will have recital.

I promise I'll get this blog looking better...I just need to find the time!!

Calendar for the upcoming weeks....

Starting NEXT week, the week of February 1-7, we will be having joint practices BOTH Tuesday and Wednesday for the girls. This will allow me to put the pieces together and the girls to see their spacing. So Feb 3 and 10, classes will start at 4:30-5:00 for Hey Mickey. 5:00-5:45 for Rock n' Roll. February 4 and 11 classes will start at 5:00-5:45 for Hey Mickey and 5:45-6:45 for Rock n' Roll. I know that this requires a bigger time commitment..but it's just for two weeks!! Then on the 16th we will be meeting at NOON at the gymnasium to practice and get spacing. It is IMPERATIVE that you be there..I know..it's a holiday and right at lunch time, but it's the only time that they gave me open after practices. Then it's the performance on the 17th!! As usual, if you have any questions, please contact me!

I figured this would be any easy/fun way to keep in touch with the dancers, have the most recent calendar, and any other fun or useful info. I posted the videos for the girls to practice with so if they have any questions so they will be looking GREAT for the game in THREE weeks!! (Don't worry, they will be!) Anyway, make sure they practice :) so during class we can just make sure everyone is looking together and keep drilling it!
